Accessibility

Get around Munich with us and within the MVV-network.

Info

One in 11 people in Germany owns a disabled pass - that's almost 10 percent of our population. At S-Bahn Munich, it is particularly important to us that our services are accessible to people with disabilities. That's why we are strongly committed to making all our stations barrier-free and to providing additional services for affected passengers.

Barrier-free travel with the Munich S-Bahn

  • Over 80 percent of our current 150 S-Bahn stations in the MVV network are currently accessible to passengers with disabilities. Around 90 percent of our passengers at these stations benefit from step-free access to the platform and level boarding of the S-Bahn. More stations are being added every year.
  • You can find out which S-Bahn and U-Bahn stations in the MVV network have barrier-free or limited barrier-free access here. Further improvements will be implemented soon.
  • The Live Map on our website and in the Munich Navigator app also informs you about the variety of facilities available at all our stations. Here you can find the status of any elevators and whether our facilities at your S-Bahn station are operational or out of service.
  • Accessibility: information also available at www.bahnhof.de and in the DB Bahnhof live app.

Barrier-free transfer from S-Bahn to S-Bahn on the trunk line

The core of the star-shaped S-Bahn Munich network is concentrated on the main line from Laim to Ostbahnhof. All lines (S1-S8, except S7) converge on this route from west to east through downtown Munich. Due to the high passenger volume, the stations on the main line are particularly barrier-free. It is recommended to change from S-Bahn to S-Bahn especially at the stations: Hirschgarten, Hackerbrücke, Karlsplatz (Stachus), Isartor and Rosenheimer Platz.
