How to get there
Take the S1 and S8 lines for a relaxed journey to Munich Airport – and back to the city center. The S-Bahn trains run alternately every 10 minutes: the S1 via the west of Munich and the S8 via the east. This guarantees there’s a station near you! Both lines also connect to the Central Station (Hauptbahnhof, lower level). We take you from Munich out into the wide world.
Tickets and Tariffs – Your various options
MVV Day Ticket Zone M – 5 and CityTourCard Zone M – 6
Munich Airport is located in tariff zone 5. We recommend the MVV Day Ticket for Zone M - 5 or the CityTourCard for Zone M - 6 for your journey by train. Both options are available for single travelers as well as for couples, families, or groups. The group version of the ticket allows up to five people to travel together.
Both tickets are valid for:
-
The journey to/from the airport.
-
The entire Munich city area (Note: MVV Day Ticket M-5 is not valid in Zone 6).
-
All modes of transport within the MVV network.
Both tickets can be purchased as a Mobile Ticket (HandyTicket), as an Online Ticket for self-printing, or at the ticket machines at the airport. The machines also accept credit cards.
If you live near the airport, a day ticket for the specific required zones may be cheaper than the two suggested options. Single tickets or a Stripe Ticket (Streifenkarte) are also possible alternatives. You may also use your weekly/monthly pass or subscription, though you might need to purchase an extension ticket (Anschlussfahrt) if applicable.
